That is not beyond the realms of possibility.
Although I haven't flown MH for some years, I just went through the pics of pre-departure drinks when they still marketed full F on the A380 on the KUL-LHR route.
On both the MH3 and MH4 in May 2016, it was a non-alcoholic cocktail drink in both directions: frankly, it's inconceivable that I'd voluntarily choose a non-alcoholic beverage on both of these flights.
On both the MH3 and MH2 in October 2016, it was Champagne in both directions.
It's quite possible that BA just hasn't caught up with almost ten years of Malaysian legislation.
