In recent years BofA implemented a requirement for $6k spend in order to get the $99 companion cert (thankfully existing cardholders were grandfathered, at least for now, with $0 spend). Of course this degrades the perk as the 6k would earn 2x transferable points on many other cards.

How long will it take before Chase requires a minimum spend for benefits? Because I don’t see most of us spending much on the UA card when the earn rate is so poor.

this will be the next shoe to drop, like the Amex $75k requirement for unlimited/guest lounge access.
