We stayed a few weeks back and very much regret doing so. Typically we stay at the original Hyatt (20+ stays but sold out the weekend we went) and have a great feel for Aruba.

The location could not be worse. The resort is surrounded by the oil refinery, pet cemetery, and prison. It's isolated and very difficult to experience the many great things Aruba has to offer. There is also ongoing construction next door (apparently a Dreams and one of the other all inclusive brands). The resort was constructed poorly and the maintenance/upkeep is abysmal. For example- the showers are lined with wallpaper but without caulking so even though the resort has only been open a few months the showers are rank with mold and mildew.

There is effectively zero integration with Hyatt. I used a suite upgrade and it provided zero in the way of an upgrade. We didn't even receive a 'preferred' room and anybody could have used the preferred pool (which didn't really have a better bar). The preferred lounge was actually a hinderance- it delayed our check in as we couldn't just go to our room without waiting half an hour for the mandatory tour nor could we check out with out jumping through the hoops of chasing down signatures. And when I went to the lounge to get coffee one morning, I was told I had to go to the coffee shop, which was literally 8 feet away on the other side of the shared kitchen. "And it's really long line right now"...

Service was at best indifferent and I was amazed by how many people were just sitting around on their phones.

Food quality was good for breakfast and lunch if dining at the buffet. The dinner options were universally bad- quality, options, preparation- all bad. Somehow even the most basic dishes were made to be unappealing.

The crowd was very heavy on the timeshare club, but in retrospect, I cannot believe the cash rates people are paying to stay here.

There's zero chance we'll ever return nor could we ever recommend anyone to visit.
