Pilot is going to be there when they need them if they get on the plane. As the prior post correctly said, moving a passenger on Plane A down a class of service to avoid cancelling an entire plane of passengers on Plane B is an easy choice.
You missed both my previous post and the first sentenced of the post you quoted. There is zero good reason for AA to find itself in this situation in the first place. If they do, that's when the checkbook needs to come out. And to repeat myself, AA is almost totally incompetent, so it both puts itself in these situations and refuses to get out the checkbook.
