As mentioned it’s “kind Cabin crew” when it happens. It happened a lot more in the past, but for some it then turned into an expectation and a few Emeralds and GGL took it as a given then voiced their disappointment when it didn’t happen ,stating they are entitled to free catering (drinks and meals even from CE, some complained to BA when it didn’t happen, so a message was sent out to Crew late last year that it is nit to be done anymore.
A hello and welcome back would “suffice”. Some Crew still disobey that instruction not to give anything complimentary from CE, for one reason or another, I’d say the majority to be nice, but a minority in order to collect Golden Tickets or Customer Compliments, so basically on both sides, Crew and Passengers, talk about a minority spoiled it for the majority.
AY used to offer a complimentary beverage to OWE in economy on shorthaul, but not sure if that’s still a thing as I haven’t flown for them in a long time.
