It is very easy to get around Singapore. The MRT is well connected with the airport. You may need to change. Unless you have tons of luggage, you will be fine. You could also use ride hailing via Grab to get back to airport.
Ray, I've been to Singapore before and I feel comfortable using the MRT system.
My concern was about leaving the tour group prior to the return to Changi. If we encounter any issues with that, we will have sufficient time to return to Changi with the tour bus and then make your way back to Little India from Changi. Won't be a big hassle.
Ideally, we would like to bring our cabin hand luggage with us on the tour bus. Hopefully the 10kg backpacks that each of us are traveling with will accepted on the bus.
