QF3 SYD-AKL delayed 24 hours [23 Feb 2026]

Hi all, I'm booked on QF3 SYD-AKL tomorrow (23 Feb) but I've just been notified it's delayed 24 hours due to bad weather in JFK.

Does anyone know if QANTAS have a duty of care for a hotel tomorrow night? Their email seemed to imply not, because it's weather related (although not on the leg I'm on.)

Not bothered with compensation or anything, I'd just like to cover the extra cost of the hotel, if possible, as I got the email 4 hours too late to amend my NZ hotel booking.

The QF app just directs me to contact BA (it's a reward flight booked via BA) so my current plan is to rock up at the airport as planned and find a help desk.

I'm familiar with BA's cancellation/delay rules but this is my first time flying with QANTAS so any advice is gratefully received.
I have travel insurance if things go really wrong but I'm hoping it'll be an easier fix!
