Booked Standard room, received Superior Room with Garden View

- How are the rooms?
Rooms felt modern and clean, but room itself was on the smaller side for a Mercure. Comfy bed (with separate duvets!), tea/coffee making station, lots of chargers, large TV and bathroom was okay, but little dated and had a window into the bedroom...? Good Aircon, no street noise (7th floor) and WiFi a little hit and miss.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Location - under 10 mins to Berlin hbf by tram, U-Bahn links to reach most of the "tourist spots" in under 20 minutes and lots of cafes/restaurants around the area
Staff very friendly, a good welcome and recognition of gold. Mrs. GL01 had asked if they could do something for my birthday in advance and a plate of cookies/cake and snacks (photo below) was waiting in our room. We had a couple of small issues and they were more than happy to sort them out for us!
Breakfast was a good selection, maybe a little pricey at €23 weekday / €19 weekends.

Bad:
Really small towels! This seems to be a common thing in Ibis / other budget hotels but not Mercure usually
Hotel felt like it was somewhere between an Ibis and Mercure, was lacking some of the more premium feel and extras like a coffee machine in the room, hand lotion, and extras but wasn't as basic as an Ibis/Styles.
Water bottle in the room on day one, but after that they don't replace/top them up. Not so much of an issue as tap water is fine to drink in Germany.

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Welcome drinks included all but back bar (spirits). Welcome amenity was a small jar each of mixed nuts/dried fruits (photo below). Room upgraded and also placed top floor.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
£220 for 3 nights, good value for the location and convenience and a nice hotel despite some of the smaller issues we found.
