agreed, BG1 has been a problem for at least a decade at hubs like SFO. BG2 is usually shorter but not by much.

I have long said UA would be wise to copy AA with 9 groups. It makes no sense to have 30 1K pre-boards, then 50 elites in group 1 and another 50 now in group 2. That’s most of the plane for a 737 and A320/321.

that is exactly what I do. I have zero need for a UA biz card but I buy a few cheapo solo trips for my collegian to snag the $125 travelbank and pay for farelocks and I’ve covered the AF. Then it goes in sock drawer.

same for the DL Amex. I charge a one night hotel stay to use the $150 credit then sock drawer.

Otherwise my airline tix are charged to JPM Reserve which offers superior travel insurance and 4x UR.
