Although it's not technically a Red or Silver card, I just found out my Aviator Business card will not be transitioning to Citi. Instead, it will be replaced by a card I've never heard of:
Barclays Juniper Business MastercardŽ
Salient points:
- No annual fee, and the Aviator fee already paid last year will be refunded on a prorated basis
- No foreign transaction fees
- 1% cash back up to $20k expenditure; 2% back up to $30k; 5% back above $30k
Interestingly, I've received no notification of this by email -- just a note in my latest CC statement.
I have no real interest in non-AA cards, but I'll probably keep this around as a backup since it's free. As for why Citi didn't take my account -- no clue. From Citi I have only a brand new AAdvantage Platinum Select personal card, I've got a solid credit score, and I was putting north of $50k/year on the Aviator business card. I assumed I'd be a pretty safe account to take over.
Here's the full description from the statement for those who may be interested in this rare(?) Juniper card:
Important Information – Your Account is Changing
As of your billing cycle that begins in March 2026, your AAdvantageŽ AviatorŽ Business MastercardŽ is being converted into a Barclays Juniper Business MastercardŽ. At that time, all benefits associated with your AAdvantageŽ AviatorŽ Business MastercardŽ will come to an end. Until you receive your new Barclays card, you may continue using your AAdvantageŽ AviatorŽ Business MastercardŽ for all your travel-related purchases and beyond, just as you do today. Your AAdvantageŽ AviatorŽ Business MastercardŽ will continue to work for a limited time after your new Barclays card arrives. There is nothing else for you to do at this time.
You’ll automatically earn cash back based on your spending on purchases made with your new Barclays card during each cardmembership year (beginning the first day of your March billing cycle) as follows: 1% cash back for every $1 spent up to $20,000, 2% cash back for every $1 spent between $20,001 and $30,000 and 5% cash back for every $1 spent above $30,001. You will automatically be issued a $50 statement credit each time you accumulate $50 in cash back. For example, if you spend $15,000 you will receive $150 cash back as a statement credit.1
Information (continued)
Great news, your new Barclays card has no annual fee. You’ll continue to enjoy no foreign transaction fees on international purchases as well as valuable Mastercard Business benefits like Mastercard Global Service and Mastercard Business Assistant. For more information, see the Guide to Benefits which will arrive with your new Barclays card.
Here’s what’s changing:
- You’ll be receiving your new Barclays Juniper Business Mastercard within 7-10 business days of the first day of your March statement billing cycle with instructions about activating and using it. Once you receive your new Barclays card, securely discard your AAdvantageŽ AviatorŽ Business MastercardŽ as well as any authorized user cards as they will no longer be valid. Your AAdvantageŽ AviatorŽ MastercardŽ will continue to work for a limited time after your new Barclays card arrives.
- Your new Barclays card will have a new account number, CVV and expiration date.
- Please note that you will no longer pay an annual fee going forward on your new Barclays Juniper Business Mastercard account. We will issue a prorated refund for the unused portion of any annual fee paid during the last cardmembership year. This will appear as a statement credit within 1-2 billing cycles after the account has been converted.
- After you activate your new Barclays card, notify any bill payment services and merchants that automatically bill your account regularly, such as utilities, mobile phone carrier, or insurance providers, of your new account information. Also, you should update any online merchant accounts that store your credit card information for expedited check-out, as well as any digital wallets.
- The benefits associated with your AAdvantageŽ AviatorŽ MastercardŽ will end as of the first day of your March billing cycle. This means you will not be able to earn AAdvantageŽ miles and Loyalty Points from transactions made with your new Barclays card.
- Please note, in some cases BarclaysUS.com may not be updated to show your AAdvantageŽ AviatorŽ Business MastercardŽ account has been converted into a Juniper Business Mastercard account until 1–2 business days after the account has been converted. Just log in to BarclaysUS.com to confirm.
Here’s what’s staying the same:
- All of the other account terms under your Cardmember Agreement not explicitly referenced in this notice. Please refer to your Cardmember Agreement as amended from time to time for pricing, rates, fees and other terms of your account.
- Any existing balance will automatically transfer over to your new Barclays Juniper Business Mastercard account.
- Your payment due date will stay the same. If you have AutoPay set up, it will continue. Your preferences, including Paperless, will remain the same as well.
- You can access your account at BarclaysUS.com using your existing username and password.
- You will continue to have an AAdvantageŽ account with American Airlines even though you will not have an AAdvantageŽ AviatorŽ Business MastercardŽ. Any AAdvantageŽ miles and Loyalty Points earned from transactions made on your AAdvantageŽ AviatorŽ Business MastercardŽ until the first day of your March billing cycle will be posted to your American Airlines AAdvantageŽ account within 8–10 weeks following earning activity.
