There’s almost 100 people on the upgrade waitlist (nor counting NRSAs) on tomorrow’s 2:40pm HNL-SFO. I can guarantee almost every Silver and their companions are not even getting E+ seats unless they paid for them, but they’re still bragging to others about having status on UA
About the only benefit some Silvers are getting are the miles they can occasionally redeem - they might be a susceptible audience for more miles a CC brings them. Now that WN are charging for bags, that Silver is worth a bit there, too.
