Sort of related, but very occasionally the clock change has caused problems. Many (and I mean many) years back my wife was flying BA back from the US east coast on the day before the clocks changed in the UK and only after they had departed was it realised that they would arrive in London too early so it was announced that the flight would land in Shannon and after a while take off again for Heathrow. So far so good. The real trouble started after touchdown when an engine flared out and the 747 slid elegantly off the runway. No one hurt but a very long wait for a rescue aircraft to arrive and ferry folk back to London late afternoon. Service recovery was pretty good though. As they deplaned in T3 (so a PHL flight??), ground crew were waiting handing out crisp £50 notes!
