Note that AAdvantage now permits routing via HKG on CX from the U.S. to India. So if the OP can find LAX-HKG-BOM availability on CX, that should have reasonable fees. But at $450 for a one-way cash ticket, one would not get great value from the redemption.

Is that $450 fare for regular Economy or for Basic Economy?
