So you are spending $20k+ a year with UA? This change basically means for you that you just need to get the Explorer card to get
more redeemable miles than before and
maybe slightly better award pricing. It will cost you in the first year nothing and from the second year onwards $150 (and for that you get some other benefits like two lounge passes). And in the first year you also get a pile of redeemable miles (70k at the moment, it seems) as a SUB.
And you can just put that “stupid credit card” in your sock drawer after you have earned the SUB.
So really, for someone who is already married to UA, this doesn’t seem too much of a burden.
