1) Use them on any trip you have, even short domestic trips
2) Book a long haul trip on some date in the future when you can find availability and use them on that
3) Book a random trip in the future that has availability now, then call to change dates/cities when availability opens up on something you'd rather have
4) Offer them up to other FT'ers
All of the above are better than just letting them go to waste. They cannot be extended, you must confirm an upgrade on at least one segment of an itinerary before the expiration date.
