Flight from Q2 of 2025.
Service on this flight was a bit rocky at the start. I think there may have been some drama with a passenger at the front of the cabin during boarding, and then again right after takeoff, which affected the mood of the crew. Drinks were not proactively refilled, but I didn't drink too much on this flight as I had about half a dozen Bomonti's at the IGA lounge. As a whole the crew were professional but rather curt and cold at the beginning. However they warmed up significantly towards me as the flight went on when I continued to be polite and thanked them for serving and clearing away plates (the line 'thank you for your kind service' with a warm smile has consistently done wonders for me in terms of improving the rapport with cabin crew when I feel they are cold or something is off. Kill them with kindness and everyone wins).
One of them even gave me some chocolates midway through the flight saying she appreciated me as a passenger, and then more chocolates when I asked for coffee before landing (I requested coffee from a different crew member but the same one who gave me chocolates earlier came back with it). I wondered if I had a chance to get her contact info as we seemed similar in age but I didn't want to risk coming across as a creep. Call me a simp but I still think about it sometimes when I fly TK.
Canapes were good but not as good as on the ex-YUL flight. Samosa was warm but not super crispy. Everything tasted fine but nothing exciting
I was seated in the last row of the J cabin on this flight and asked for a little of everything left from the trolley. What I got was good, but nowhere near as good as the spread I got on the ex-YUL flight. Likely due to running out of some of the more popular items by the time the trolley reached my row.
Lamb was okay, nothing spectacular. The sides however were absolutely delicious. Full of flavor and perfectly seasoned, including the rice. These were probably the best sides I've had for a main meal course on a TK flight.
Similar to the appetizer trolley I asked for whatever was recommended from what was left as well as a fruit cup but declined baklava. Everything was good, but not quite as excellent what I consider the TK dessert standard. I was excited for the apricot crepes but they were just okay to my taste. I don't think I would have done better with any of the other options however as I didn't have enough room left for the baklava style pastries nor was I in the mood for tiramisu. Fruit was good but not peak.
Second meal service appetizer. This is such a sharp contrast to the chicken salad app for main meal service I had on my later ex-BOS flight this year. Not only better presented but much fresher veggies and tastier chicken. Hard to even recognize as in the same family of dish. The eggplant side was good, but not quite as good as the similar salad bar dish at the lounge this time.
Prawns with curry sauce. This was very good. Shrimp were not overcooked but what I would consider 'well-done'. Sauce was very very good, full of flavor, and filling, but surprisingly not greasy despite the visible oil. Rice was good, the edges had some slightly crispy bits from the reheating.
