Hyatt is looking at the fact that someone is paying a high AF for a credit card despite thinking their loyalty program is a joke as evidence that they are not extracting enough value out of the program.
I don't drive more spend (credit card or stays) to Hilton because there is no reason to. The Aspire benefits besides Diamond is competitive and makes it worthwhile for the occasional traveler, and offers the FNC's as incentive to actually stay at Hilton.
Hyatt is the last brand that actually has people mattress running for top-tier status and spending on co-branded credit cards to get the few extra nights. If Hyatt believes that inflating Globalist ranks and diluting benefits is worth the revenue that the premium cc will bring, then great. IMHO I would go all-in on that strategy similar to AA loyalty points and make the spend threshold for Globalist large enough that it's obtainable (75kish) without being dilutive beyond repair, and offer enough perks that make the card worth keeping around. For other cards that looks like a mix of FNC's, credits, and special cardholder only promos.
