As for the comment about not being able to book properties on points unless you book them a year out...that is so completely untrue it is not even funny. I saw open rooms for weeks at the PHT (the property mentioned specifically) for weeks on end with a month or 2 and a week's notice very recently. I regularly see "top" end properties open on points within a month of booking.

I use Hyatt’s program because it brings me value. And, will continue to do so if and when I get value out of it. When I was looking at the PH Tokyo for dates I wanted (Sakura season) it was blocked out. I went with the Conrad instead as Hilton for the most part has much better availability at their high end properties
