- Would it be too risky, "operationally," to fly on the last day of my qualifying year? Anything beyond the normal, "flights may get cancelled due to strike, weather, or the pilot ate a big lunch?" Such as 'beware of the afternoon flights to Crete, they cancel a lot."
- Or risky, "technologically?" Assuming everything goes correctly, would the IT mess up? Because both tier miles and status qualification are seemingly processed in batches, possibly overnight, depending on which runs first may cause things to get quite broken.
I found a very fitting itinerary and fare on the last day of my qualifying year.
Surely some have also done this on the last day?

Cannot comment on the Operational part, but technological side is not a problem, because the actual flight date is important, even if it credits several days/months later...
Several years ago, my +1 had a problem because we flew on OS and the miles did not credit automatically do A3, we had to do a manual request which took almost 1 month to credit and she had a requalification date in-between, she fell down to A3 Silver (because she did not requalify gold) but once the retrocredit was successful, she was reinstated to *G with the original date of requalification.
