Just got off a flight from SFO - the oven was broken so no hot meals in first. They offered chicken salad (ack) or fruit and cheese. I realized that I had pre-ordered the seared salmon (served cold). They had it so I got what I wanted.
i was watching a movie and not paying attention during boarding. Just before door closed, a gate agent passed around printouts to everyone in first for 2,000 SkyMiles. No idea why (flight was going to leave late) but is that their idea of compensation for no hot meals in first?
DTW- SRQ earlier this month had no hot meals due to broken ovens. They offered either turkey or ham sandwiches, both of which were disgusting. Giant, semi frozen chunks of bread roll, 2 thin slices of deli meat, a single thin slice of American cheese type product, a couple of unripe tomato slices and a small slice of frozen lettuce. No condiments. Must’ve cost them a whopping $1.39. FA wouldn’t let us into the snack basket as “that’s for the return flight that only gets sandwiches” . Alright then. I complained to Delta - not that the ovens were broken, but that the replacement meal was so awful, and got 5000 miles.
I’m doing the return this weekend. No pre-order on the 2 supposed to be hot sandwich options. Those are both awful as well. I’m planning to eat before I get on the plane.
