Why doesn't Air Canada's website allow you to see how many SQCs (and AP Points and LQMs) an itinerary will yield before you buy? Feels like a super basic and customer-friendly feature available on many other airlines' websites. Especially with the introduction of the new (and more complex) SQC system, this would have been a nice touch.

I know FT members have made helpful tools this SQC Calculator + PNR Viewer (h/t canadiancow ) and the Status Simulator (h/t Adam Smith ), and I'm incredibly grateful to them, but these are things that Air Canada could be providing to its customers more easily and robustly given their access to data.

But since it hasn't, I plan on playing around with Claude Code to vibe code an app where I can upload a PDF of a purchased ticket or the fare summary screen before payment, and have it calculate the SQCs / AP Points / LQMs the ticket will earn. If I'm successful, I'll share it here.
