To reach the Holiday Inn near Cincinnati CVG airport there is a regular shuttle service from the airport terminal. I had a rental car and should have achieved the drive in 6 minutes, but the hotel was not so easy to find. All the same, despite a midnight arrival, it made a considerable impression on me. Check-in faces a huge interior atrium with a large fountain, reminiscent of Las Vegas, which gives the feeling that you are outdoors. There are vending machines near check-in, if you want a snack or drink. A nearby spread out bar area doubles up as the breakfast room. The entire hotel is built on the ground level so there is a considerable amount of walking to be done.

The room was pleasantly appointed although the usual dark theme prevailed in the colours of the thick carpets and furniture. The bathroom contained the standard Holiday Inn design, which is at a higher level than in Europe. The bed was very comfortable and I had as good a night as I was going to get, given the late hour of arrival. I did the usual bedbug check and everything was fine. The breakfast consisted of a rather limited set menu, pleasantly and cheerfully served, with plenty of coffee! There was also a nice looking interior swimming pool, visible while walking to the room, which appeared to be closed while I was there.
