I bet they have to increase the number of eGates in certain airports first before expanding the categories allowed.
At least for now they should create a resident-only lane or allow residents to use EU lanes, something that is explicitly not allowed by current regulations.
It all gets so confusing! Whilst I am not an EU resident (British passport only), when I was progressing, slowly, through CGN exit last week (see above), they were specifically going up and down the queue double checking that no one in the queue had an EU residence card. They were directing EU residence card holders to go the EU manual desks for processing, and reminding everyone that those with EU residence cards should be in the EU queue, not the all passports queue (which from what you are saying sounds like it is not correct, even though it would probably be better if it were!).
