TK82 BOS-IST Q1 2026 20:00 departure Turkoflot A350-900

As discussed above this was an 8PM outstation departure from BOS with no trolley service. Which was unfortunate as I was very curious how the trolley appetizers on this route would be as BOS has consistently been a pretty bad airport for outstation catering in my experience.

And as discussed on the improved business service thread I felt there was an effort made to improve service compared to last year.

I felt the main material differences in meal-related service were: A) I was encouraged to select an alcoholic drink as a pre-departure beverage. I have not experienced this before on a flight out of the US (maybe to offset the dismal BOS catering?) as I was under the impression serving alcohol while on the ground incurred additional US liquor taxes. B) I was actively encouraged to select dine-on-demand. I did not select this option but there was a slight miscommunication as a result (more below). C) I was actively checked in on during breakfast service to see if I wanted more coffee (which was appreciated, I think I had four cups total).

Service also felt maybe a bit ‘rushed’ but I can also see how passengers would want to prioritize sleep on this flight if Europe is their final destination. Could also be the reason for lack of trolley service.

I unfortunately neglected to take photos of the menus. I apologize also for the framing of the photos and mess. I was pretty tired and fairly drunk by this point from Chase lounge cocktails, raki, and scotch.

I had initially asked for both appetizers if available but this was misheard as a vague request for dine-on-demand when available later. I was then brought the chicken salad once they saw I wasn't getting ready for bed. I did not ask for the mezze in addition as I had eaten quite a bit at the Chase lounge due to prior experiences with BOS outstation catering. It tasted exactly how it looks. Still managed to finish it but if I take another ex-BOS TK flight I will probably stick to the mezze.

Salmon was uninspiring but acceptable. Larger portion than what I had on the ex-YUL flight last year but very comparable quality. Sides were fine. I was seated in 1A so entree came out quite quickly.

I asked for whatever desserts in addition to a fruit cup. The fruit was not as fresh/ripe as other TK flights I've taken (likely BOS catered) but the rest was the standard delicious TK dessert quality. TK seems to prioritize the quality of their sweets (I am normally not a sweets person but these desserts hit the tastebuds different at 30K ft).
Breakfast fruit appetizer was fine. Again I felt the quality of the fruits out of BOS are not up to par with other TK flights I've taken but perfectly acceptable.

Omelette was probably on the rubbery side but acceptable. The potatoes however were downright atrocious. The worst I've had anywhere. They had a buttery flavor but they were drier than actual cardboard. This was the only food item I was served that I couldn't even eat half of (I do not like to waste food, especially on flights, so if I don't finish something it's pretty bad). I did appreciate the constant coffee refills however.

In the future I might ask if I can get the Y breakfast if available as the entree, as the TK scrambled eggs are quite good and way better than this omelette. May not have worked out on this flight however as it was completely full.
