check in officer can see your whole itinerary. So if there is a return or outbound flight on your itinerary like at 99.9% of all tourists, they will not ask anyway.
I never had any return or outbound flight since 1996 and from the couple of hundred flights to Thailand, I have been asked probably two dozen times for a return or outbound flight, in which case I showed them my visa (which is difficult to find among all stamps in the passport)...
