Just a random tidbit/experience: I switched my pre-order from one of the options to "I will decide on board" about one hour before the 24-hour cutoff and received the "thank you for your pre-order" email, but on board the FA still had my original selection displayed on the app. So changing your mind too close to the cutoff seems to not always register.
