Sadly, TK making up bogus reasons to deny boarding is very common, which is why I'd recommend avoiding it unless you have a "strong passport" (although normally I'd consider Thailand fairly okay in that context). Even with my EU citizenship I avoid TK on very complex itineraries where I suspect there may be a risk of some moron going on a power trip.
