I lived at the Ritz for a few months before. It's a bit of a dated hotel but service is nice and I always got nice upgrades to suites even. Downside is you don't get lounge access even as an elite.
As ElevatorEnthusiast mentioned, I liked the JW overall, so if you're not happy with that I can't see why you'd stick with a Marriott property generally. W is too far away from anything to be worth staying at.

Have you given Temple House a try? If money is no object that is better than any Marriott / Hilton I've stayed at in China.
