I just completed a five night stay here, having decided the location made more sense given my itinerary than any of the other options, most of which were also twice the price. Somehow I missed this thread prior to my trip, but I think that's because I thought I had stayed here before. Nothing looked familiar, so I was probably confusing it with a previous trip involving the FRA Sheraton.
I was upgraded prior to arrival to an "airport view" room, which overlooked the G pier. Check-in was a bit slow as discussed upthread, but after a few minutes I made my way upstairs, where a welcome gift (a can of stroopwafels) and a handwritten note was already waiting. This is the first welcome gift I've gotten in quite a while, so I immediately knew this was going to be a better than average hotel.
The excellent breakfast and other amenities have generally already been covered. I'll note the tea at the "refreshment center" (at least on 8F) is superior to the tea in the rooms, so I just grabbed a couple of bags whenever I came up the elevators and then used the in-room kettle. There is a new Dutch law banning single use cups to "save the environment" (I'll leave the discussion of how much the environment is saved by this to OMNI), however housekeeping did not rinse or replace the reusable mugs or glassware at all during my stay. (I ended up washing the mugs myself in the bathroom, though for those with Club access another option might be to "borrow" a mug from the lounge.) Note this applies to the gym too -- while there's a water dispenser you need to bring your own water bottle or cup.
My current technique for determining whether a Bonvoy hotel is well run is waiting to get a post stay survey (the more problematic hotels tend not to send these out), and then whether or not I get a reply from the hotel. This hotel passed both tests. I did mention perhaps housekeeping could clean or replace the mugs, which they acknowledged in a standard non-committal way. I also mentioned the lack of desks. Apparently Executive Rooms and Suites do have full desks, which is better than nothing I suppose. The hotel photos do not show desks for these room types (maybe they were added post renovation?), and also it doesn't strike me as particularly reasonable to have to book a €100++/night more expensive room to get what should be a basic amenity.
All that said, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when appropriate for my travel.
