Because of the C concourse construction (to make it better for the customer) half the gates were closed on that concourse. While the B concourse extention opened at the same time with 6 new gates, that still did not fill the void. Therefore NWA "loaned" Mesaba gates 46 and 50 on the A concourse for a hardstand operation. There are spots for 6 planes, both saabs and CRJs. These will be primarily for a/c that are international arrivals from Canada and then their subsequent flights onward from DTW. Expect this setup until sometime next summer when the new C concourse opens. Additionally, the avro is using gates 45 and 47 in addition to any of the B gates and gates 59, 61 and 63 on the A concourse.
