I wonder if the hotel will face scrutiny with the first morning room check and not opening the room. Only waiting until - my guess - reviewing the cameras to the pair arriving at the hotel the night prior and not leaving to go back in the afternoon and force open. Wouldn't be surprised if the family sues.
It might mean the Rio will set welfare checks like other Vegas properties. Bye bye to those long ghost stays.
On what basis would the Rio be liable for an intentional act by the mother? And what would a mandatory morning room check have accomplished? On all of my stays I haven't a housekeeper show up until the afternoon.
