I just wanted to say that anecdotally I noticed something interesting over the last week or so I was recently looking at tickets to and from Barcelona, and I noticed that American was offering last seat availability into upgradable c (including two that I was able to confirm). I was surprised because usually American only offers upgrades when they have at least a couple of seats left.
