In 2025 Avis notified me of a parking fine received in southern Italy 2/3 months before, advising to wait for the official letter from the authorities to pay it. I got the letter 4/5 months after the first notification from Avis, or maybe even more.

The fine, by the way was one of the best examples of targeting the "foreigner/outsider". It happened in the village of my husband's family, where a lot of the residents park regularly in that specific spot, and a lot more park disregarding every traffic sign in the streets. There is one specific street where parking is prohibited, and guess what? There are always a minimum of 6 cars left there, day and night.

Who get the fines? People with rental cars and/or plates from outside the region...
