In the app to me it lists two different versions of the same trip, one says Premium Economy (PE) and the other says Business (U). I asked customer service about this and they confirmed that i am still waitlisted. So unless you get a confirmation i would just assume it is a glitch.
It really is annoying because like someone said, it gives false expectations. If you want to confirm it for sure you can ask customer service, but keep in mind that waitlisted upgrades most likely won't be processed until T-30 days before the trip at least from what i gathered.
I think it's a weird feature of waitlisting, which is kind of a niche feature of the app. I recently waitlisted for a date change on an award ticket and both the original flight and the waitlisted were listed in the app for a good while.
