Very odd how Chase awards credits for offers when you didn't even end up spending any money with the merchant.

Earlier this week I took an uber ride that was mostly covered with my uber cash balance and the remaining $14.53 amount was automatically charged to my default payment method which is an Ink Preferred for the 3x earn on all other travel (since CSR stopped giving 3x on rideshare other than Lyft which earns 5x). Right after the ride I reminded myself that I hadn't used the $8 monthly rideshare credit from my United Biz card and figured this is a perfect opportunity to do so, so I went into the app and changed the payment method for the credit card portion of the ride from the Ink Preferred to the UA Biz card. So the $14.53 charge and credit were both pending on the CIP at the same time and posted together as well making it a wash.

Today I received an email that I used an offer for 10% back on Uber that I had saved to the CIP (and wasn't even expecting to use because I normally buy Uber gcs at 20% off from Costco but I was maxed out on purchasing those until Friday, thus the overage of that ride was being charged to a card) and there is a $1.45 credit on my card. I'll take it, but I honestly don't understand how they operate when their system should clearly see that I ultimately spent $0 with Uber.
