As told, I cannot find any availability if I search for two segments, SYD-DOH and DOH-MAD respectively, but only SYD-MAD gives some availability.
Well QR 909 is a non stop flight from SYD to DOH. and QR 149 is a separate flight that operates from DOH to MAD that you connect to in Doha.
But you purchased this flight as one booking SYD to MAD (married segments), rather than individual segments, because it was available in F even though there is no F on DOH to MAD.
When you checked individually SYD-DOH in F and DOH-MAD in J they were not available.
So it's the same route and flights. The award ticket was available in F throughout but not individually.
