Took JTA (NU)'s OKA-TPE inaugural flight last week. As expected, flight didn't post since CX's mileage calculator doesn't have OKA-TPE under NU yet, although the route is listed under JL (likely because JAA (EG) had it in early 2000s). If the route doesn't exist, one can't even properly retro-claim online. I called to ask them to open a case for me. Agent was very unhelpful and said if the route is not listed, it is not eligible for status points and miles. Complete nonsense. CX needs to be the one to add the route to its own database. I told the agent I would just file the retro-claim under JL, which seems to be processing. Meanwhile, I still ask her to open a case for me.

Now, I actually received a written reply quite quickly, but again, complete nonsense.
Thank you for contacting us regarding your mileage credit enquiry.
We have carefully reviewed your request for missing mileage credit for flight NU301 (OKA–TPE) on 3 February 2026, and would like to provide the following clarification.

Although Japan Transocean Air (NU) is a member of the Japan Airlines (JAL) Group, mileage accrual under the JAL Mileage Bank programme is not determined solely by the operating airline. To be eligible for mileage credit, a flight must meet all applicable conditions, including:
• Whether the specific route is eligible for mileage accrual, and
• Whether the ticket type and booking class qualify for mileage earning under the programme rules.
After verification, we regret to inform you that not all JL or NU operated routes are eligible for mileage accrual. As such, the system does not allow mileage credit or post flight mileage claims for this sector.

With regard to the information shown on the official website stating that mileage can be earned on JL or NU flights, this applies only to eligible routes operated under qualifying fare conditions, and does not mean that every JL or NU flight is automatically eligible for mileage credit.

As mileage accrual is governed strictly by the programme system and terms and conditions, we are unable to manually add mileage for sectors that do not meet the eligibility criteria, even upon request.

We appreciate your understanding and thank you for taking the time to share your concern.
I wonder if CX has started to use AI to generate response. I'd rather they be a bit slow, as opposed to giving a quick response that doesn't make sense. It's funny that she even cited "JAL Mileage Bank" here, which is why I think this is an AI response. How funny that now status points and mileage eligibility on oneworld flights are restricted to selected routes only (I'm being cynical).

I'm sure I will get the status points and miles at some point. Just have to fight or wait for the case I filed under JL to credit. But I'm really irritated seeing response like this.
