I read the entirety of responses upthread before asking, thanks. All I saw was a reference to Trent engine issues, that it may end up like the A340s, and that it's a boring safe choice.

The former is empirical, the latter 2 observations lean opinionated. I'm happy AC made a decision and personally glad they picked a proven jet, but I'm happy to learn more about why it could be a bad thing.

EDIT: noticed there's some lore in another thread, I'll grab a coffee and prepare myself for some reading.
