It all Depends - if they are looking for volunteers to offload at check in them it doesn/t matter if you have bags or not - they will just put any bags you have on standby. However if they are looking for volunteers at the gate, in the lounge or even on the aircraft then it may be an advantage to have no bags! Hope this answers your question!
