The KLM mess wasn't just about weather. It's about poor management - they knew about the snow chaos and still flying in pax to get them to strand at AMS instead of rebook them proactively. We were the victim of it and ended up spending 2 days at AMS, and that we were lucky to have to right passport to be able to leave Schipol.
The underlying cause of both craps are the same: poor management (or managements that don't give a damn about inconveniencing pax). However, KLM uses weather as an excuse to continue to under-equip during winter.
