I'm referring to Alaska's "Classic" web page interface versus its "New and Worse" version. More to the point, I have the following booked with points
FEB 21 FAI-ANC-SEA
FEB 22 SEA-PDX
I'm happy with my FAI-ANC-SEA times, but my SEA-PDX flight departs early morning, and I'd like to see if I can get on something a bit later in the day as I don't need to be in PDX bright and early.
Under the "Classic" web page, if I wanted to change a reservation, I could go in and specify which flight I wanted to change (The 3rd leg, FEB 22 SEA-PDX) and I would get responses and prices specific to that leg, and how any changes to it would affect the affect the reservation as a whole. Keep in mind I DON'T want to change my first two legs (FEB 21 FAI-ANC-SEA)
Under the "New and Worse" version, I can't specify that third leg that I want to change (FEB 22 SEA-PDX). Instead, when I indicate I want to change the reservation, the "New and Worse" version automatically assumes I want to change the entire FAI-PDX reservation and thus spits out all manner of times and prices, none of which are any help to me at all because I need to keep the two flights I'm already booked on FAI-ANC-SEA.
A call to Alaska Reservations was an exercise in futility, and my attempts to explain the issue were met with as much comprehension as if I were explaining it to a horse.
All she could do was plug in the flight I was hoping might be available, and then tell me it would cost me an additional 25000 miles. At present, my entire reservation prices at 20000, and before I called her, I checked and saw that I could book the flight I wanted for 15000 all by itself.
Of course, I could wait and do same day confirmed change, but for whatever reason the flight I wanted to change to is rapidly filling up.
ANYWAY - If any of you have still read this far - is there any way to specify that I want to address changes using the Classic interface? Up until last week, the Classic version was always an option on reservation changes, but now it's no longer offered - at least not up front and obvious.
Is this yet another in the seemingly endless cavalcade of Alaska app/res page glitches, or do any of you know a way that I can override or otherwise do business using the "Classic" interface?
Fares to/from Alaska allow layovers up to 24 hours, so it was likely pricing out on a single FAI-PDX fare component (FAI-ANC-SEA-PDX is also a valid routing for FAI-PDX fares). You can't just change one leg that is part of multiple segs on a single fare component without getting an entirely new fare quote.
