Don't forget that now you have 80-ish A220s and 80-ish 717s for 160 total (of roughly 808 narrowbody frames) so in total number than at any time in its history, but not by percent.
FWIW pre-merger the 120 MD88 fleet (plus 16 MD90s) was the second largest fleet behind 121 757s. So it was a large part of the domestic fleet.
That said, Id agree the major of the fleet hasn't even been close to being 2x3
