This is honestly uneacceptable. Alaska Airlines is now holding hostage our wallet funds and we can't even use them to buy new award tickets. Will be filing a DOT complaint for this.
I have not seen a different (newer) UI, but if that's the case and this issue is limited to the newer UI then this would indicate a bug (omission) in that UI rather than a policy shift by AS. I suggest you file a bug report rather than a DOT complaint.
