Plane parks up at the arse end of the old T1. Bussed to a dedicated door in the 'bus station' B gates. Bus driver stands around looking as though he's never seen a door before. One single door on the bus eventually opens, everyone herded into a queue for two (yes, two) biometric scanners. They fail to detect children and the obnoxious staff act as though it is the child's fault that their crappy scanners don't work. Loads of attitude from the staff who, grudgingly, whip out an iPad. Get through that bit, have a seventy mile walk to the specific lane in border control, same palaver again. Scanners don't detect children, stroppy attitude from the staff again acting as though it's the child's fault the scanner doesn't work, surly man gets out iPad and acts in slow motion, the very definition of malicious compliance.
I'm convinced someone has chosen Manchester as a place for social experiments to test the limits of what a customer will put up with:
- Manchester airport. Dilapidated, worst staff of any airport in the UK, ridiculous procedures
- Britannia hotel. If you know you know
- Manchester Piccadilly platforms 13/14
- Northern being the predominant operator. TPE being just as awful
