We stayed there last Friday and loved it. And we actually stayed at the Tokyo Station Hotel the previous two nights. The Tokyo Station Hotel is obviously more centrally located with access to multiple train and subway lines. But at the end of our trip, Shinagawa station worked well for us as we took the Narita Express direct to Narita. It's about a 5-minute walk between the station and hotel. (I'm not sure if there's a hotel shuttle bus to the station; you may want to take a taxi if you have a lot of luggage.) When we arrived at one of the three Prince hotels on the property, I said the word "Hankohro" and it was like a secret password. They asked for my name and we were then personally escorted through two of the hotels and the Japanese garden to the appropriate check-in area, with a greeting by name at each location (they were discreetly calling ahead to tell staff of our arrival). Service in general was very courteous and attentive. The base room is very spacious, with an entry and luggage storage area, WC, bathroom, bedroom, and sitting area. The furnishings and decor have a clean, understated aesthetic where everything has its place. The beds were very comfortable. The 4 lounges on the property are available to you (one in Hanakohro itself, and one each in the three Prince hotels). You can sample the food and drink in each lounge throughout the day. We chose the buffet breakfast downstairs in the Grand Prince Takanawa "Patio" restaurant over the Japanese set breakfast; the latter is more in keeping with the room (and can be served either in the room or in the Hanakohro lounge), but at this point in our trip we wanted more variety and less "fussiness." The buffet is good in both quality and diversity, but not nearly as good as the breakfast at the Tokyo Station Hotel. The gym is decent and much larger than the Tokyo Station's, though machines are placed very close to each other in both places. We particularly enjoyed the Japanese garden. It's not huge, but it's beautiful, all the more so because it's an oasis of calm in an otherwise very urban setting. It must be spectacular during cherry blossom season.
