Good morning from Bali. Hard to believe this is day five already, and somehow the first proper morning of the actual trip. The first four days vanished at speed, mostly in transit blur.
I was awake around 4am and have unpacked my suitcase to a level of precision previously unseen in my travelling career. I blame jet lag and too much time alone with drawers.
Unexpected highlight so far is the bathrobe. It’s soft, comfortable, and it actually fits. This is noteworthy. Some hotels treat bathrobes like decorative suggestions rather than garments. The InterContinental was particularly guilty, all drama, very little coverage.
Slippers are supplied but they are comically small. Fortunately I packed the Turkish Airlines inflight pair, which are perfectly sized. Other wardrobe discoveries include a couple of smart looking umbrellas and a branded shopping bag, which I assume will come home with me whether I want it or not. I will be making use of an umbrella, it has been raining steadily all morning
I was given a small forest worth of paperwork at check-in and the only item I’ve lost is the Wi-Fi password. Impressive consistency. Mobile data is fine though. I bought a Holafly global eSIM before the trip and it’s been rock solid so far.
Breakfast begins at 7am, buffet format, in the same bar/restaurant from last night. It goes by the name Asparagus Restaurant and is part of the resort. Almost 7 am now so let’s go and investigate the breakfast offering.
