The hypothetical -500 might struggle to do YYT-YVR with a full load but it should be able to do YUL/YYZ to the west coast of Canada and the US in its sleep, which is 95% of the "TCON" market in Canada..
AC doesn't fly YYT-YVR today with their current fleet, and YVR-YHZ is a single daily flight on a 7M8. If they can't make the 7M8 or 223 work on YYT-YVR then the 225 isn't going to change that. That route feels like it needs less seats cough 221 cough but there probably isn't enough revenue there to cover the costs.
But yes I agree with you. The potential for the 225 is for flights out of AC's major hubs YYZ/YVR/YUL and not for coast to coast flights.
