I'm not suggesting that the OP does try to break the rules, but we went in and out multiple times during our stay and each time we turned left out of the lifts instead of right, went through an unguarded door and bypassed the manned desk completely. Nobody noticed, or if they did notice, cared.
I would say that security was lax to say the least.
He talked about the Garden Hotel before, not the Oryx hotel. The Oryx is the paid one which you can book directly. The garden hotel can not be booked directly and is used for STPC only. Everybody can book the Oryx Hotel for ~300 EUR per night.
The garden hotel is only available if it is provided by Qatar Airways and this comes with conditions
It's located somewhere completely different. You have to pass the desk. There is no other way to bypass them.
Also the Oryx Hotel is the same price for single or double room. Of course they not care then if you stay alone or with someone.
