I feel like a lot of peoples' experiences vary so wildlt depending on where they live and fly. My experience matches yours, because I am often coming from, or going to smaller places (usually Rouge or Jazz, sometimes main), and often and night (because it is the only option). Someome flying YYZ-INTL all the time with no connections will be better off.
(Also as usual, unclear if these OTP stats include non-mainline, which I always found cheeky to not include.)
