OK, I looked at this in some more detail. It appears the Airbus spin of 4700 nm corresponds to ISO standard conditions, i.e. standard atmospheric pressure at sea level, 101.3 kPa, 15 C and 60% relative humidity, for a plane with no additional center tank (ACT), and for a 16,000 kg load. Max load being around 23,000 kg.
In other words, yes, the airbus value is for somewhat rosy conditions, namely not a hot summer temperature, and for load restrictions. But presumably not just spin and still meaningful but perhaps not for Madrid. or Mexico City... OTOH, surely the same is true for all planes and all manufacturers.
Also, not clear to me if AC ordered the 321XLR with additional fuel tanks, and presumably an increased MTOW?
